‘Namaste Yoga’ is otherwise called as ‘Prayer Pose’. ‘Namaste’ is a word which literally means ‘I bow to you’. The main pose of this yoga is that the hands are brought together near the forehead position (middle of the eyes above the nose) and as the head bows the hands are moved down to the centre of the chest. This pose resembles a person expressing ‘Namaste’ and hence the name Namaste Yoga. Mostly this yoga is done while standing but can be done even if the person is seated.
Namaste yoga can be performed with the combination of ‘Mantra Yoga’ where the performers chant some mantras which claim calmness and strength to the physical and mental parts of the body. This is derived from a special classification of yoga named as ‘Tantra Yoga’. According to the past history it is said that Namaste Yoga is done by Sadhus. The poses in this type of yoga are commonly called as ‘Mudhras’. Though some poses of this yoga looks simple it is not advisable for the beginners. The yoga should be practiced in front of the yoga teacher. Namaste Yoga is done in combination with much other yoga normally at the beginning or at the end.
